House Homeland Security Chairman Mike McCaul, who is a Texas Republican because of course he is, visited the outhouse behind Roger Ailes' old boyhood home known as Fox & Friends to make sure their Thursday morning show was topped off with bile and stupid.
"Now we find out–as James Comey told me previously–it's very likely that foreign adversaries from other nations got into her private server. This is why you have security protocols to protect classified information," McCaul said. "She exposed it to our enemies and now ... our adversaries have this very sensitive information that not only jeopardizes her and national security at home, but the men and women serving overseas. This is in my opinion quite frankly it's treason."
Rep. McCaul was on Fox to talk about a Fox report insisting that based on anonymous sources, not only was "classified information" on the server after all, no you shut up, but hackers of course got in and stole it. This information comes from an anonymous source that may or may not be Mike McCaul wearing a fake mustache—there has been a remarkable tendency of House Republicans to leak scandalous information about "investigations" against Clinton that turns out to be a steaming tray of hot garbage once the actual "investigation" pipes up with the facts—but by gum it counts as quite frankly treason according to McCaul in his official capacity as commenter-upon of scandalous claims that may or may not have come from House Republican offices.
He already knows where this is going, too. He can taste it.
McCaul's "treason" comment came just hours after he told Fox News Wednesday that Clinton should be "impeached" if she were elected.
So just in case there was any doubt: Yes. It does seem that the Republican outrage machine is already primed to act at least as insane as they have insisted upon being during the Obama administration. First they were alarmed over the black president's death panels; now they are already equally panicked over the emails. First they insisted that President Obama could appoint no more Supreme Court Justices because everybody knows the last entire year of a president's term doesn't count, constitutionally; now they're insisting the first female president should be appointing any during the entirety of her term, and besides they're going to probably impeach her, because email, therefore treason.
They will be doing all of this instead of passing budgets or fixing potholes or naming post offices, because the Republican Party is a failed party that has neither the interest nor capability of governing. They just don't care anymore. It's just one big conspiracy theory from top to bottom.
