For those who like their pre-election music to feel the way I’m feeling right now (angsty, worn out, acutely aware of human condition and the long, hard road we’ve traveled), boy oh boy have I got a song for you.
(Practice your skepticism, people. This set-up should alert you to danger. This is how people get Rick-rolled. But I promise I would never do that. I’m from the most gracious fringe of the Kossack party.)
I found this song first by the grace of Pandora, as a cover version done in duet form from “Redbird” (Kris Delmhorst, Jeffrey Foucault and Peter Mulvey). They also do a might fine version of Bob Dylan’s “Buckets of Rain,” also as a duet.
Today I realized it was a cover. The original comes from Tom Waits.
I needed a little help to parse get the full lyrics, so here’s a link.
That same Pandora station of mine found me the brilliant and almost completely unknown Leroy Lytel, but that’s another story.
Just a couple of more days, folks. Hang in there. Souls to the polls.
