The election is a choice between more of the same and a whole lot worse. Alas there is no option to change the course of the train, but derailing that train will only lead to a trainwreck.
There are two ways to use power: use it to grab and loot and show off, as Trump does, as shown by his habit of stiffing his contractors etc, or use it to build the world, repair problems, and make room for those who have been shut out. Look to Ukraine, or much of Asia and Africa, for the consequences of Trump's style of leadership.
H. Clinton's flaws come in these boxes:
1) Good intentions can often lead to unforeseen negative consequences. That is life, and it is not an argument against trying. It takes real courage to tackle problems without any easy right answers. To oppose anyone who has ever fucked up is to oppose anyone with experience.
2) She is so caught up with the overall momentum of the US and the world, but such trends as the devastation and hollowing out of much of America have a life of their own and are more the result of Reagan's policies than those of the Clintons.
3) For somebody who has been so involved in world affairs, it is amazing how few glitches there have been. The Republican noise machine has latched onto a few (WhitewaterBenghaziEmails), taken things way out of context, exaggerated her linkages to problems, and attached them to a keyword that they repeat and repeat and repeat.
We cannot look to politicians to solve our problems. We can only do our best in our immediate surroundings. But politicians who do not know what they are doing can accidentally bring the whole shithouse down in a bad way. Think how Bush's ignorance of the Sunni-Shia dynamic in Iraq led to a gigantic catastrophe.
I oppose the Clintons on some very basic matters but respect their record of behind-the-scenes troubleshooting, and their basic knowledge.
Trump does not have the minimum level of competence for the job. He may play to his followers’ hopes and fears like a violin, but he is not capable of following through.
