Fliers were posted at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine yesterday falsely advising students that they would need to have their driver’s license and vehicle registration updated in order to vote on Tuesday. There are no such requirements:
“[Maine’s Secretary of State Matt Dunlap] said that all a Maine college student who is not from the community where he or she attends school has to do to vote is to register with the local city or town clerk.
In the case of a Bates student, the student would register with the Lewiston city clerk, who in turn would notify the clerk in the student’s hometown that he or she had voted, eliminating what Dunlap called double dipping.”

Make sure you and any college students you know understand your voting rights tomorrow!
