I know this has been Diaried once tonight already, but….My God.
The line in Philadelphia to see Hillary’s final rally tonight has stretched for (per my wife, who is there and measured it; she’s like, “You gotta post this!”) nearly four miles, snaking from Independence Hall, all the way down to Washington, where you turn right and then go all the way to 11th ...then left, and farther and farther.
It is an Endless SEA of people. The rally is supposed to start at 7:30. The line has been forming since mid-Afternoon.
OK, well Bruce and Bon-Jovi are there to. To perform. But still….
These Tweets are from earlier this afternoon, when the line was just beginning:
Someone on Twitter got all Film Noir about it:
They’re all having a great time!
This is absolutely, gobsmackingly stunning. This portends a total wipeout in Philadelphia and the Philly burbs tomorrow.
Hello Senator McGinty.
Hello Madame President.
UPDATE: Livestream Here NOW (be patient, this is supposed to start at 730 EST) is OUTSTANDING—Katie McGinty just did the intro. Leave it ON and TURN IT UP!!! h/t to Johnny Appleseed’s Diary here.
Or try this link in Hi-DEf.
OK I see I have to be entertaining here for a while until this starts:
We’ll start with some links:
Jay Carter drove to Philadelphia from Pittsburgh for the event.
"This is our future, this is my future and this is a lady that truly represents what America stands for," said Carter.
Security has been intense surrounding the perimeter of Independence Mall as crews put the finishing touches on the stage where Clinton will be joined by President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea Clinton.
Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen will take this stage before Hillary takes the podium.
And some people were honest that's what they came for.
"Bruce Springsteen to tell you the truth," said Robert Jordan of Northeast Philadelphia.
But the majority of the thousands who lined up, starting at 4th and Chestnut, say they came to see Hillary.
YOW!
Update: FINALLY It Works!!! C-span Livestream and ABC links up. Thanks to all Kossacks who helped out with the sound.
We’ve had Bruce with acoustic versions of Thunder Road and Dancing in the Dark.
Now Chelsea and Bill Clinton.
Michelle!
And The President Of The United States, Barack Obama.
On Trump:
“If his closest advisors don’t trust him to Tweet, why would any of us trust him with the nuclear codes?”
On Hillary:
“She doesn’t complain, she doesn’t buckle, she brushes it off. Like the American people she is strong and tough.”
“I know she will work her heart out for you.”
“She will work, and she will deliver. She won’t just Tweet.”
“We do not need a Trump/Toomey economy.”
“ I still believe in hope. I’m still as optimistic as ever about our future and that’s because of you, the American people.”
“America, I’m betting on you one more time.”
“I’m betting that young people turn out to vote, because your future is at stake.”
“I’m betting that tomorrow you will reject fear, and choose hope.”
“I’m betting that the decency and generosity of the American people will once again win the day.”
And our next President, Hillary Clinton:
“There is a clear choice in this election—a choice between division and unity.”
“Make no mistake, our core values are being tested in this election.”
The real test for us is what kind of country we will be and what kind of future we will build for our children.”
“I love America and I know you do too...and I believe with all my heart that America’s best days are still ahead of us.”
“You voted for a country that builds bridges, not walls. Let’s get out and make history together. Let’s get out and vote.”
