Good Evening …
Welcome to another BAK Election Results Liveblog. For those new to the site, this will be our third Election Results Liveblog. Those who have been around for awhile might remember the ones from 2014 and 2012. It’s a presidential year so that’s the race that gets most of the attention, and emotional involvement, but there are a bunch of other races that are worth looking at and we always try to cover any that are important to our membership.
How ‘bout it Michele ?
The official site for Arizona election results is that of the Arizona Secretary of State, HERE. Every four years a handful of Arizona Democrats turn out allowing Republicans to sweep state offices, and every four years a new Republican Secretary of State messes with the official results website so that it gets slower every election. SoS Michele Reagan proved her incompetence during the primary this year and it will be interesting to see whether the site will hit another low. Michele, who denies using a crosscheck system to purge minority names from the voter rolls, likes to boast that she saved the state money by having the site redesigned “in house”. Maybe we’ll get some results before midnight.
Here's a tune:
Zany Professor
Progressives will be watching New York’s 19th CD to see how Zephyr Teachout does. Here’s an anti-Zephyr ad. I never did wear the Birkenstocks, leather boots still bein’ in style and all, but I’ve got a Bernie sticker on my laptop.
Races of Interest
Some are saying that Arizona is “in play” in the Presidential race. We’ll see about that. If it’s true we could see a win for Ann Kirkpatrick as well. It also looks like Maricopa County voters have finally had about enough of Sheriff Joe, again, vamos a ver. We have our own CD-2 to watch as well as the Corporation Commission. I’d like to see both Props pass. Tucson Unified School District board candidates are running on two opposing tickets these days. I’m not sure that’s healthy. Our own Dave in AZ is running for a seat on the County Board of Supervisors in Cochise County.
Meet-Up ?
We have a post-election Meet-Up tentatively scheduled for next Saturday, the 12th, at Red's Smokehouse + Tap Room. That’s on University a block west of the Main Gate. Anybody interested ?
OK …
Here we go. First results expected at 8 o’clock, may all your candidates win.
