I don’t do twitter. So my response to this ridiculous hash tag is here.
Yes, the person who takes the oath of office on January 20th 2017 is my president, no matter how I voted. He is not my king, he is not my emperor, he is not my Lord and Savior. He is my president, and as such he must earn my respect and support. This political arrangement is not the other way around. Since he is my president, I am not required to respect and support him, he must earn it. But he is required to respect and support me. As such, as a president and not a king, he must abide by the US Constitution, he must protect me, and he must endure my right to free speech and my unalienable right to free thought. He is not my king, he does not get to demand absolute allegiance in my thoughts and speech from me.
I am totally disgusted by people who say that since Drumpf won, we must all get in line and support “our president.” That is total bullshit. The Constitution gives us the right to resist, and the Declaration of Independence states our moral imperative to do so.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
It is the Right of the People to bitch about the result of an election no matter who is president.
