Either the kos is becoming a politicized version of the Weather Channel — latest breaking update on the state of the snowflakes. But with Myron Eball as likely head of the EPA and the Koch brothers soon to have having carte blanche on their dirty energy, deregulating agenda, there is not going to be many snowflakes of any kind — because no snowflake is special when they have melted into the hell of rising temperatures and ocean levels.
But wait, these dire prospects do not seem to matter because our community seems seriously stuck in the anger phase of the seven stages of grief. Whose freakin’ fault is it we lost?— your FAULT, you selfish special snowflake! No, its your Fault! and I am not special snowflake, you doctrinaire dogmatist! and on and fucking on. Do snowflakes fiddle, cause you know, we are about to burn?
But let’s break this down. In hindsight, could the Democratic Party have run a better candidate. Yeah, maybe but it is hard to know just who that candidate might have been. [If you say Bernie, the GOP had a now well-documented attack file that was going to make Sanders look like a sexually perverted Chairman Mao, who fucking stole electricity from his neighbors (check out Kurt Eichenwald in Newsweek —Myths that cost the election). So, we really can’t know how Sanders would have fared under the GOP attack campaign].
But Could Clinton have run a better campaign?; in hindsight, FREAKIN” OBVIOUSLY but in the moment, this SITE was all about pushing for down ticket victories; Arizona is in play!; We are turning TEXAS BLUE!” So, if the Clinton campaign was so damned bad, where were the sounds of concern at that time?
No where and that silence was because all the polling was suggesting that Clinton had the momentum and was heading toward a decisive victory.
And you would have anticipated that so many white middle class women would deem Hillary’s staying with Bill, despite his indiscretions, as being a much worse moral transgressions than Trump’s horrific history with women? This election was an odd in every sense of the word and Clinton lost the election for a whole bunch of reasons; no one in particular is to blame but it is time to refocus on the future at hand because a whole bunch of shit is coming.
We have seen the playbook in action during the Walker administration. Hit fast and on multiple fronts; a blitzkrieg assault that overwhelms the opposition (and like in WI; the Democrats have very limited power to mount a resistance given their minority status in both houses).
If the Democrats can slow down the trump administration by blocking cabinet appointments (and recruiting a few renegade Senators to their side on some issues), the Trump administration may well put us back into an era that is not that different from the Robber Baron age, with the additional consequence of pushing past all major climate change tipping points. Lest this seem hyperbolic, the Walker administration has put forth measures and rolled back on rights and regulations that most in this state felt with untouchable. Trumpco. controls all the levers of power. I don’t know how to effectively resist but the left needs to find a viable strategy in the next 8 weeks.
Against this backdrop, all the special snowflakes calling others “special snowflakes" need to realize we will all melt in the same damn hellscape, without a helluva of a lot of coordinated work.
