From a comment in LeftyCoaster’s diary about the Texas Elector who stated he will not vote for Trump. If there were not massive rumblings about a large amount of defectors, Lessig would not be doing this.
Larry Lessig
A prominent Harvard University law professor is teaming with a California-based law firm to offer legal support for any members of the Electoral College seeking to oppose President-elect Donald Trump in violation of state law.
Larry Lessig says his new effort, which he calls “The Electors Trust,” will provide free counsel to electors, provided by the midsize firm, Durie Tangri, whose partner Mark Lemley is a longtime associate of Lessig’s.
More significantly, Lessig said, the Trust will offer a platform – with guaranteed anonymity – for electors to strategize about stopping Trump from taking the White House. It’s a platform, he said, that could help electors coordinate to determine whether they’ve gathered enough support to stop Trump from winning the presidency.
Okay, so how I am reading this is that the two that have come forward and stated they want to DUMPTRUMP are the tip of the iceberg. Let’s recap, every single living Republican former Pres all stated that Trump was a disaster, several prominent Rep party figures did the same, Trump is not a real Republican and he will not play by the Rep party rules. They all know he will destroy the delicate balances of power they have schemed to get over the last three decades or so, he’s a bull in a globalist china shop, breaking everything while taking whatver he thinks the prized possessions are.
There has got to have been a lot of backroom panic sessions going on since the election as the Rep Party, in general, did not want Trump and every single cabinet pick he has made are people that are literally the bottom of the barrel, fringe people of the party. Trump is going off the Koch books, he’s off the rails and the Republican party cannot handle people not falling in line.
So these electors are having to choose between allowing Trump to become Cheeto in Chief or “breaking” their vow to vote party line.
Question is this, if the Rep party doesn’t really want Trump, are these EC voters really breaking faith with the party?
I need a whole case of popcorn now.
