MSNBC just reported that Bernie Sanders’ campaign raised $2.6 Million last night.
In his victory speech last night, he said he was going to NYC this morning, but not to raise money from Wall Street. He said he’d have his fund-raiser online, nationwide and asked supporters for donations.
The Washington Post reports:
The response was so overwhelming that his website buckled under the traffic. Between the close of the polls and 12:30 a.m., his campaign brought in $2.6 million.
After his near-victory in Iowa, Bernie raised $1 million overnight and $3 million in twenty-four hours, so … imagine what he might take in within the 24 hours after New Hampshire!
Last night, people on Twitter and here reported having trouble with Act Blue’s site, that it was freezing up or taking a long time to process donations.
Bernie began this morning by having breakfast with the Rev. Al Sharpton at a famous diner in Harlem. Sharpton said they sat at the same table where he met with then-Presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Sylvia’s restaurant is around the corner from Bill Clinton’s Harlem office. (Ouch.)
Sharpton, on MSNBC, said he has not endorsed either Bernie or Hillary yet, that Hillary is scheduled to meet with a number of Civil Rights leaders, and Sharpton invited Bernie to do the same. Sharpton said he expects to make an endorsement after that meeting.
Bernie talked to him about going to jail in Chicago when protesting during the Civil Rights movement, and Sharpton said he appreciated Bernie’s leadership in calling for the governor of Michigan to resign over the poisoning of Flint, Michigan’s water system.
Sharpton also interviewed Bernie for MSNBC, airing now. Sharpton asked how he plans to appeal to African Americans and Latino voters.
Bernie says he has the ground troops to compete in Nevada and SC, are going to do well when voter turn-out is high, have the issues, have the agenda. 1- What we believe and what we’re fighting for economically, in terms of social justice and criminal justice.
Repeated from last night: we will do well when voter turn-out is high.
Sharpton on MSNBC now:
Next Tuesday, Civil Rights leaders will meet with Hillary Clinton. Invited Sanders to meet, too, and he agreed.
Sanders’ and Clintons’ jobs to sell their credentials and background to African American voters.
After meeting Sharpton, Bernie appeared on The View:
The ladies of The View offered Bernie a serving of his very own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor.
Bernie’s campaign is now booking ads for Super Tuesday.
(Senior Advisor Ted) Devine said the campaign is planning to launch ads Wednesday in three Super Tuesday states: Colorado, Minnesota and Oklahoma. And he said it will expand its reach in a fourth: Massachusetts, where the campaign has already been advertising in the Boston market to reach New Hampshire voters. Starting Wednesday, it will add Providence and Springfield, Devine said.
Just heard on MSNBC that Bernie has out-spent Hillary 2-1 on ads in Nevada!
Someone asked about Hillary’s fund-raising. I haven’t seen a total for last night, but look at her schedule for the next few weeks — filled with fundraisers! That’s got to cut into her campaigning time.

Damn. I’d heard that she was going to have trouble, because so many of her individual donors have already given the maximum allowed.
