And here it is.
Haven’t really explored the whole site, but looked at enough to see it’s a very user friendly format with surprising little details here and there.
The video about DeRay on the site is very good.
As a clueless white Sanders Supporter, my attention became focused on Black Lives Matter after the Netroots confrontation of Bernie Sanders.
Like “some” of my fellow clueless white Sanders Supporters, my first reaction was anger.
But after listening to “say their names,” seeing the anguish on those young women’s faces, feeling that energy, at least for me, the protesters were successful in conveying the emergency nature of what was going on, exemplified at that time by Ferguson and Michael Brown.
Sadly, there are many more tragic injustices to be “exemplified” these days.
I didn’t pay much attention to DeRay until I started following him on Twitter. He was really into the technology of both Twitter and some of his music sites and other sites (don’t recall the names offhand) and he retweeted a very interesting and eclectic assortment of information from a diverse group of Tweeters.
And now he’s running for Mayor of Baltimore.
I’m going to contribute to his campaign.
I remember not so long ago when so many people chastised Occupy Wall Street and other activists for not influencing electoral politics.
I believe those groups were seeds of what we are seeing now, and it’s very exciting, imo.
So I’m going to contribute some money to DeRay’s campaign. At first I felt I was taking away from money I’d give to Bernie (as I am not a billionaire) but then I figured I shouldn’t let fear move me that way and that to spread even my small wealth around could be a positive act in and of itself.
So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
