It was this time last year we had the original “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day” profile written about Nevada State Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, who in her first year in office alone in 2013, came to the defense of Jim Wheeler for saying he would vote to legalize slavery if he could, bragging about breaking the law by carrying her personal guns through gun free zones, and abrasively swearing on the floor of the Nevada State Assembly, saying in less flattering ways that her colleagues were suffering from rectal-cranial inversion, or that they needed to grow sets of brass ovaries or testicles. She didn’t settle down much, blaming victims on college campuses for sexual assaults because they weren’t carrying a gun, themselves, and becoming one of the most vocal defenders of tax scofflaw and domestic terrorist Cliven Bundy during his standoff with the Bureau of Land Management in 2014.
And we jumped the gun, perhaps, by publishing our profile on Michele Fiore when we did, because literally one day later, she managed to do something stupid enough to make us kick ourselves. She consistently did so all year. Let’s go to the latest timeline updates on her moronic adventures:
- February 24th, 2015: Fiore, who somehow is also the CEO of a healthcare company, talked about working on a bill regarding “end of life care” for medical patients. She seemed like she had a lack of knowledge about medicine, though, when she talked about how to treat cancer, which she “believes is a fungus”, by putting in a pic line to “wash it out” with baking soda.
“If you have cancer, which I believe is a fungus, and we can put a pic line into your body and we’re flushing, let’s say, salt water, sodium cardonate [sic], through that line, and flushing out the fungus… These are some procedures that are not FDA-approved in America that are very inexpensive, cost-effective.”
- March 20th, 2015: Michele Fiore chimes in during a debate in the Nevada State Assembly about Voter ID, where she said such a measure could no longer be discriminatory because Barack Obama was elected president (which makes no sense), before referring to one of her African American colleagues in the legislature as “colored”. Coincidentally, among those who testified at the hearing, that could cite no evidence of in-person voter fraud in Nevada? Good old CSGOPOTD alumni Sharron Angle.
- April 23rd, 2015: Fiore introduces a bill in support of rancher Cliven Bundy, AB 408, which would require the federal government to obtain permission from county commissioners to use public land in the state. When a colleague voiced his concerns that the bill was patently unconstitutional and a violation of the Supremacy Clause and that she was turning the proceedings into a circus, Fiore blew up, yelling at him, “Can you sit your ass down and be quiet?”
- July 8th, 2015: Michele Fiore, born in New York, and now a citizen of Nevada decided to speak out in defense of the Confederate flag upon hearing that in the wake of the shooting in Charleston, South Carolina at the AME Emanuel Church executed by a young white nationalist motivated by Confederate iconography had prompted the South Carolina legislature to remove the Confederate flag from the state capitol. She even claimed she would install a horn that played “Dixie” on her car, like the one the General Lee had on the Dukes of Hazzard.
- November 2nd, 2015: Fiore releases a pin-up calendar featuring herself posing with assault rifles and other guns to try and further normalize them into the American consciousness.
- December 1st, 2015: News breaks about the Fiore family Christmas Card on Facebook, which features ten family members, between them carrying seven guns, including a five year old boy. The three who aren’t packing are toddlers, so at least there’s that. In any event, Fiore ended up lampooned on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore as a result.
- December 7th, 2015: On her weekly radio show, Michele Fiore stated her desire to handle Syrian refugees by “flying to Paris and shoot them in the head myself”. Please remember, of course, that the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks in Paris were not, in fact, Syrian refugees, but Muslims from France and Belgium. And thus, Fiore was talking about going to murder innocent people.
- January 27th, 2016: Fiore rages on social media about actions taken by Oregon police and the FBI to end the militia (aka domestic terrorist) siege of Malheur Wildlife Refuge. Two of Cliven Bundy’s sons, Ryan and Ammon, were present. But Fiore took the time to lie about the death of Lavoy Finicum, who she claimed was “murdered with his hands up”. The video of Finicum’s death shows him nearly run over an officer while crashing through a police barricade, and not once, but twice reaching for a firearm that he was carrying in his belt before they opened fire.
- February 14th, 2016: It is made known that Michele Fiore was in contact with the occupiers at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge, and that she was “negotiating” with them to surrender before the government moved in. She still, however, was calling for “precise questions about the charges against the jailed occupiers” and tried to spin their armed occupation of government property as them being sent to prison for “political free speech”.
Now, most smart conservatives would try to try and not come off as too extreme while running for office in a presidential year, but Michele Fiore is not most conservatives. In fact, in spite of all the above idiocy she’s shown in the headlines, she even has an inflated enough opinion of herself to think that she could successfully run for U.S. Congress to represent Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. Yeah, she’s running, she win in the primary, she might not be palatable enough for the voters of Nevada’s 3rd District, considering it has no Democratic, or Republican lean according to the Cook Partisan Voting Index. If she does stay in this race, she could drive Heck far enough to the right in the primary to sabotage his own chances of being re-elected.
