I am a frequent contributor to Bernie Sanders, so I get a lot of emails linking to donating sites.
Tonight I got this one which says, in part:
There are two ways to run a campaign in a post-Citizens United world.
The first is one that many politicians know well: courting millionaires and billionaires for very big checks, constantly holding big fundraising events, and ending up beholden to your donors. This method now also means being OK with super PACs.
The other way is quite different, and honestly, much more difficult. But it's the path we chose, and we believe it's the right path.
No super PACs. No billionaire class waiting to step in and save us. What we have is millions of people willing to stand together and say ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Our movement has made more than 4 million individual contributions to this effort, at an average of about $27 apiece.
I am not a thrifty person. If I’m dead broke and you give me $50, I’ll probably have it spent by the end of the day on candy and trashy novels. And I will be unrepentant, so you probably won’t give me money in the future, lol.
Anyway, I have to say that every dollar I have sent to Bernie has given me a bang for the buck. He really is walking the talk when it comes to a people powered campaign, and it’s not like what we were told would happen when too many folks said “Oh, you have to fight fire with fire! You have to take the big money!” Etc.
Every day Bernie stays in the ring is a miracle to me, given the odds against him. The big money isn’t even trying any more to hide itself. The corporate media, the Dem Party establishment, all the various wealthy constituents who have been feeding at the public trough for decades, the oligarchy machine is showing its power.
Each day Bernie draws tens of thousands of people to hear him, like some kind of truth magnet, is really quite glorious. Even better than candy! Hee.
I recall when Occupy Wall Street came to the attention of the world, people both here at Daily Kos and in my NYC legal secretary life had their attention captured for maybe a day or two, but then lost interest.
After they lost interest and stopped paying attention to what was happening, they incorporated into their public opinions the notion that the movement had failed.
There is indeed a revolution going on. And for me, Bernie Sanders is leading the way to showing how we need to help others get into the political process.
Just two notions — making election day a national holiday; and having everyone registered to vote automatically on their 18th birthdays, would expand the electorate, letting more non-billionaire people in to determine the direction of our country for all of us, not just some of us.
I urge all Bernie supporters to contribute before tomorrow at midnight because every day Bernie is in the race is a good day for democracy.

What a difference each day makes …
