President Obama stated that the ACA would reduce family premiums by $2,500. The facts are after the ACA was enacted, family premiums for employer plans are $4,000 more expensive than they were 6 years ago.
The insurance companies continually raise deductibles to keep the premiums from skyrocketing.
There is one major pitfall that no one is talking about, reinsurance, and risk corridors. These programs subsidize the for profit insurers with tax dollars on ACA losses.
Reinsurance and risk corridors have largely hidden these price increases from consumers for the past year; they will continue to do so until January 1, 2017.
Premiums will likely skyrocket come that date. The Medical Industry Leadership Institute's study estimates that once the two subsidies expire, premiums for a cheap bronze plan in Pennsylvania could increase by a staggering 96 percent for individuals and by 46 percent for families.

Why do we have to wait for Hillary to do something on the ACA- has President Obama just given up?
We are told at best, all we can hope for are costs increasing faster than wage growth. This is a recipe for disaster as it transfers trillions of dollars from citizens pockets to for profit corporations.
To pretend the ACA is sustainable, or that we don’t have a major problem with affordable health coverage in the USA is disingenuous and a bold faced lie.
An employer sponsored family premium costs $17,545 (average) in 2016. In 2009 employer health insurance premiums costs $13,375 for a family.
Deductibles have risen 67% since 2010.
