Wasn't it a Republican president who warned us all about the Military-Industrial Complex?
President Eisenhower was a highly respected U. S. Army General, who was instrumental in winning WWII in Europe. Even though a former five-star General, while president he warned the country to beware of the Military-Industrial Complex (MIC), no doubt seeing just how strong they would become, and how much of a strangle hold they could put on our nation.
Also known as the Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex, the full name begins to make more sense, especially when you realize just how (financially) dependent upon the MIC Republicans in Congress are.
Republicans ARE the Military-Industrial Complex, and Republicans ARE the party to be feared in all they do and all they want to do.
Simply put, the Republicans want to reverse all social gains our country has made over the past decades. This includes their idea to privatize Social Security, roll back the Affordable Care Act, reverse Voter Rights gained with so much blood and tears over the years.
While they tell us that they would love to return to a Reagan-style Presidency, what they don’t tell you is how much Reagan hurt our nation. Ronald Reagan traded arms for hostages, gave weapons to the groups which became the Taliban and Al Qaida. His many tax increases were the silent partner to his concept of Trickle Down Economics. There are more people at the top — the 1% — than before, and there still is no way that the 1% and their wealth can help those of us at the bottom, as the middle fast disappears.
Trickle Down Economics truly does mean piss on the little people. Please forgive me for not going into greater detail; I know that there are many more scholarly explanations on DailyKos, to explain both this and Reagan’s supply-side economics more clearly than I ever could. In addition to the fact that we are all very much aware of what Saint Reagan did to for the country, for which the GOP has canonized the former acting President.
The Republican candidates are all variations of the smarmy used car salesmen and -women, like Mitt Romney and, like Romney, not a single one of them will allow their campaign to be guided by facts or, more importantly, truth.
It's critical to remember that the first person chosen to replace the Speaker of the House was passed over because he dared to tell the truth about the so-called investigations into Hillary's Benghazi or email issues, telling the whole world that they were initiated in order to knock her down in her attempts to become POTUS.
