It’s the morning after Super Tuesday and ‘Merica has spoken. So what does metaevolution tell us about politics and the current sorry situation we find ourselves in while choosing our next government. Well in my first entry ever back in 2004, i claimed that even ideas and institutions evolve...i.e. that memes are passed along like genes are in animals, and that there should be a scientific way to apply the rules of evolution to predict these kind of changes to society and even influence the outcomes.
Okay, so i didn't write ALL that on my very first post, but that is what i meant and what i went on to write more about in later posts. I've thought about momentum and the wave like, back and forth nature of political thought in this nation, and all nations. I wrote about the Obama elections and how there was a new paradigm in politics where big data outweighs big money (no one on the political website Kos agreed at the time). This year, very little has been predictable, and the truths that i may have guessed at in my gut was something my head was reluctant to admit…
Now it’s time to say it out loud tho, it's looking more and more like a Trump vs Hillary election. I wish i could say that science and philosophy allows me to make a confident prediction, but it doesn't. I wish i could assure everybody that a sane and humane Hillary Clinton will be our next president, but i can’t even tho i do believe that her odds are good. Unfortunately, metaevolution is better at seeing the long term trends and the big picture, than at predicting the day to day changes that are affecting this current political race. Literally, anything could happen in the next six months.
Bottom line, here's the metaevolutionary advice i can offer... buckle up, say your prayers, go to the polls in November no matter HOW SICK you are of the entire process, pls!!! And in the meantime, enjoy this cute and innocent and adorable kittem meme... Peace!
