First off, let me shield myself a tiny bit from the anger. I am a Democrat. I will vote for whoever is our nominee in the fall, though I am a Bernie supporter.
Please, bare with me in this diary as I attempt to get to my point.
We have recently been subjected to a shit storm of diaries claiming righteous indignation, fraud, felonies and demanding the arrest of Bill Clinton for a campaign event outside of a polling station.
This is utter nonsense, since even if Clinton did something wrong, it rises to the level of a $25.00 parking ticket. Likely, these people writing the diaries could have spent their time more constructively attempting to get Bernie the nomination instead of spreading incendiary comments that only piss people off. |
So, my thinking about this subject sent me down this path;
Knowing I can prove this to be utter, partisan nonsense and hypocrisy on the part of some obsessed Bernie supporters who will grasp at anything to tear Hillary down and get Bernie nominated, I posed a very simple question to them:
I am just curious why none of you are showing outrage over what is currently happening on the Republican side of things, as the establishment is attempting to engineer a way to give anyone BUT Trump the nomination, despite the fact he has overwhelmingly won most of the votes.
The Republican party disenfranchising MILLIONS of voters, yet you freak over a violation that is the equivalent of a parking ticket.
Why do I see no diaries screaming in outrage over this? Where is the self righteous indignation?
|
For the most part the answer was *crickets*, though there were a couple responses:
“So, two wrongs make this right? “
“You’ve posted this several times now. Let me clue you in...nobody here cares. Take it to RedState, I’m sure they will be interested.”
|
‘No body here cares — ‘
Unfortunately, that response sent me down my own path of self reflection.
I have been nothing if not ABSOLUTELY GLEEFUL over the mess on the other side in the Republican party.
I want to see the Republican party self destruct. I’ve written on Kos that I believe that most of Trump’s supporters are racists. I despise them. And then I thought;
Does it only matter when voters who are democrats are being disenfranchised? These are some of the articles that are popping up in newspapers across the country:
Literally five of the six opinion pieces in the Washington Post today are devoted to stopping Trump.
Donald Trump thus far has received over 3 million votes. The consensus is he is well on the way to accumulating the most delegates, if not outright winning the Republican nomination.
Yet, there are a few very rich, influential people behind the scenes who are literally engineering a way to wipe away those THREE MILLION votes and the many millions more in the coming weeks.
‘do only Democratic party votes count in America?’
The plan by party elites is no longer for anyone else to win the nomination, but to ensure that Trump does not have enough delegates to claim the nomination at the convention, at which point back room deals will decide who gets the Republican Nomination. From the Washington Post:
What is becoming clear is that going into the convention in July, either Trump will be the Republican nominee (most likely), or no one will be. If it’s the latter, delegates would likely take part in multiple rounds of voting to select a nominee. |
I’d like to think we, as democrats, are better than that, but thus far the response from the extreme Bernie supporters has been “crickets”. So, as I struggle with this question myself I have to ask, do only Democratic party votes matter to Bernie supporters and Hillary supporters?
