NONONONONONONONO.
Okay, I may be freaking out a bit here, but please talk me off the ledge.
I saw the Marquette poll today. No, not the Democratic one. The Republican one. The one that showed Cruz +10 on Trump.
So Cruz takes Wisconsin, putting Trump behind in his quest to get a majority of delegates. His momentum blunted and the general public waking to the horror of what a Trump candidacy would do to the Republican Party, he falls well short of a majority going into Cleveland. The convention is contested.
Trump, realizing he doesn’t actually WANT to be president, throws in the towel. The nomination goes to a faux-moderate like Kasich. The party rallies behind him, Trump turns his vitriol on the Ds, a passive press refuses to vet the R candidate, and we get four months of commercials either A) Calling Bernie a Socialist or B) Hillary the enemy of all that is good and decent in America.
The Rs keep the Senate, keep the house, win the presidency, are positioned to remake the Supreme Court, and I wake up on November 9 reeking of cheap rum and panic.
Please please please tell me I’m over-reacting. Provide examples. Show your work.
