Former U.S. senator endorses Bernie Sanders just ahead of Democratic Debate
FLINT, MI -- Former U.S. senator Donald Riegle, of Michigan, endorsed Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary Sunday, stating he had the best chance of winning in November.
"The best chance for Democrats, Independents, thoughtful Republicans and America is standing right here," Riegle said shortly before the Democratic Debate in Flint.
Riegle, a Flint native, was originally elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican but later changed his party affiliation to align with the Democrats. He said Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton had made mistakes, like supporting the North American Free Trade Agreement.
