Aren’t conservatives supposed to look to the past to invest their futures?
That’s what I’d always heard… the GOP, the party of the Good Ol’ Days, the party of Better Times Remembered. Well, now it’s the Party of Nightmares, and finally some are making noises like they want it to change their brand. They won’t come to the Dems, that we know (thank God!), and they think the Tea-Baggers are hijackers (truth!), so they feel the GOP should be recreated to be the better entity they once knew and now fondly remember.
Change, eh?
Fine… I agree. The GOP needs changing. So, all you GOPer’s who feel you need to get back in touch with you more sensitive GOP, make the changes already and give all of us back our country!
We really need you to do this because America is in serious trouble and it was mostly the GOP that put us there! It's today's GOP, still calling itself the Umbrella Party or the Big Tent Party, that’s trying to destroy our country for reasons I don't think they understand anymore. It’s today's GOP that is rolling along like an unstoppable, thundering juggernaut, tramping over all good American’s rights, taking aim at everyone’s Constitution, lining it up for a rewrite. It’s today’s GOP that has the rest of the world looking at us in amazed stupor, wondering how this once proud nation ever gets anything done for its people, how has it survived the past 20 years (Hint: the Democrats), and how on earth can it be trusted to help them if ever they are in a time of need?
Is that the GOP you want to change? Fine by me! Get ‘er done, Smokey!! Shut the hell up and start working to stop the crazies in your party from tearing us all a new one! Stop whining about it.. Stop talking about it… just start making the tough choices and begin the hard work of rebuilding.
Are they up for it? Can they do it? Do they know how to create change? Will they try? Well, they keep saying that they want the party to change. That’s a big difference from wanting to change the party... you know, like bringing about change themselves. Changing old habits and cutting out cancers is hard work, and the GOP isn’t known for applying themselves to working all that hard. I've been calling them the party of Short Cuts and Quick Fixes for years. Besides, the first step in any 12 step program is admitting you have a problem. I don’t think the GOP is even at that 1st step, yet.
Still, maybe they are serious about change. Are you, GOP? Are all you so-called renegade conservatives up for it? I don’t even think you know if you are, but for God’s sake, you stupid, insipid, Republican, conservative complainers… stop talking to the 'Librul' media about how you really, really, really want change and get to work getting your freaking party under control before you destroy us all!
