My name is Alex Singer, Democratic Candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.
In many races across the country, from the Presidential race, all the way down the ballot to state legislative races, Progressive Democrats are fighting for the soul of their party. My race here in Nevada’s CD-3 is no different. For too long we have been underserved and underrepresented by Rep.Joe Heck (R-NV) who has served only his personal ambition, not the needs of his constituents here in Southern Nevada, that is now evidenced by his run for Senate.
This is our moment to take back this seat and to send a clear and loud message to the establishment in Washington, that we have had enough of the status quo and the we need and demand real Progressive change. My constituents and fellow residents of CD-3 know all too well what bad leadership can mean for their day to day lives. We are still feeling the effects of Bush’s Depression, with too many mortgages still underwater, unemployment still too high (47th in the nation) and schools that are underfunded and understaffed that don’t allow for teachers to properly teach our children.
What we need for CD-3 is a Progressive Representative that will fight for your needs and unstack the deck that has been stacked against you for too long. We need a Progressive fighter who believes in a $15 minimum wage that is tied to inflation so that never again will it not be a living wage. We need a Progressive fighter who believes in robust infrastructure spending, robust school funding, single-payer healthcare, protecting and advancing women’s rights, improving the care that our Veterans receive when they arrive home from the battlefield and a transition into a prosperous, clean and renewable energy future that ends our oil addiction once and for all.
We need a new and Progressive voice in Washington that stands up for you!
What we can’t have is a Democrat, who pondered the idea of running as a Moderate Republican against a sitting Democratic Congresswoman, like Jesse Sbaih did. We can’t have a Democrat that went Congressional District shopping to find the best opportunity to win like Jesse Sbaih did. We can’t have a Democrat that sought the establishment’s endorsement, then rebrands himself as anti-establishment and pro-Bernie Sanders, like Jesse Sbaih did. What we can’t have is a hand-picked choice of the Washington establishment, like Jacky Rosen. What we can’t have is Representation that is not decided by the voters in CD-3.
I am running in CD-3 because this is my home, this is where I grew up, and this is where my family lives. I didn’t want or seek the establishment’s support or permission to run for this seat. I am running because when I talk to voters and hear their stories, I know that their needs can’t wait. I am running because I want to make sure that programs like Social Security Disability, Medicaid and Medicare are there for current and future generations of Americans. Without these programs, I wouldn’t be here today and in a position to serve my country and constituents in Congress.
I believe in a Progressive future that helps ALL Americans, rich and poor. We need leadership in Washington that is sent there by the people, not big money donors or powerful politicians in Washington. I never wanted to be a puppet of the establishment and I am proud to say that I am not. This is why I am proud that my campaign is 100% grassroots and is funded by the people, for the people.
We are Together For Nevada!
