Now that New York is in, I know we’re all staring reality in the face.
Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the nominee after the convention.
I was never a Sanders supporter, but I did like some of his policies. I found it curious that his “Not me, us!” slogan emphasizes how the election is about all of us.
So not for me, but for us — let’s win in November and beat the GOP. Even if you don’t like HRC, I hope you’ll come out and vote for us.
And when I say us I’m thinking not about HRC but about
- women who should have the ability to exercise their right to choose for themselves regardless of what state they live in
- the people who are or have a family member incarcerated
- immigrants who need a path to citizenship and shorter processes for those already documented
- voters who face increasingly strict voting rules to disenfranchise Democrats
- the formerly uninsurable among us
- women who still face a pay gap
- people who struggle with care — childcare, eldercare, disabled care, etc.
- children who deserve the same good education no matter where they live
- people who want to have a fighting chance at the middle class
- the economy whose low-wage workers need a wage increase
- students who want to go to college without drowning in debt
- the hungry, homeless, and/or down and out who just need a hand so they can get back up on their feet
- the children who will be alive with stricter gun control
- the mentally ill who need services
- the small companies who just want a level playing field with the big companies
- the veterans who need us to fulfill our promise to them by funding the VA appropriately
- people who want unionize to stop being a dirty word
- people who think that religion is a private thing that should not be enshrined in law to affect others
- women who should have access to free contraception to control their own destinies
- people who believe in equal marriage
- people who believe that each person gets to determine gender identity for his/herself (and zeself etc.)
- people who know that multiculturalism IS America
- for those of us who want to see a competent woman president because we never thought we would
For all of us and all the others I could not think of, please vote for us. No matter how you feel about HRC, I can guarantee that for us, the GOP is a threat to our way of life.
