Everyone here knows there is an ongoing issue with the use of flags to show disapproval, thusfar on an anonymous basis, of material Kossacks post here, and that receipt of a certain number of flags for a comment without reccs to counterbalance will produce a hidden comment with the minimum number of flats being 2 or 4 in most cases. A certain number of flags produces Time Outs or other penalties or possibly even Bojo. Flags were a descendant of Hide Ratings and first appeared in DK5..
HRs were shown on a Kossack’s comment list and on comments themselves on which they had been imposed. When DK5 began, so were flags. The principal difference was that flags were anonymous and HRs were not.
Comes yesterday, I log in and go first to check my comments to check for flags. I have now done that checking consistently for many years, despite almost no receipt of either HRs or flags, because of having been at IP when it was still active, where certain persons and groups of persons would use HRs in packs to get rid of people whom they wanted to drive out of DKos because those people so completely did not agree with the HR posting squad.
To me it was not annoying but was intimidation and there has not been one day when I thought DKos was orderly and fair enough in this sort of thing that I could trust it and just sign in without first checking.
I log in and find in my Comments list no column where the flags column was at all, and no place which would show if any comment received flags or did not. I do find a new column which for some reason lists for me that I wrote my comments.
What is going on here? Has the flag system been revised? If so, how is it now working and why? Or is this merely a tech problem with my computer and such, and the flags which have been heaved are waiting for me, and I just can’t find out about it.
Please advise.
