By now I’m used to the gloating, almost celebratory pronouncements of how Bernie Sanders can’t win. Never mind that they dismiss the novel and historical nature of Bernie’s campaign and ignore the fact that his campaign has accomplished what it has in spite of the media being biased against it, and the effect that bias has in our current world of low information voters.
What I don’t get is why anybody would derive satisfaction from the defeat of someone like Bernie or his vision. I also fail to understand people who don’t see why we embrace someone who seeks to address the current regime, which gives us a world where the likes of Scott Walker or Ben Carson, let alone Donald Trump, are treated as legitimate presidential candidates. I don’t get why people would be willing to settle for less without a fight.
