In the latest installment of "John McCain: Angry old white guy," the Arizona senator told Phoenix CW6's Politics in the Yard that even though Republicans have clearly alienated Latino voters, the GOP didn't really need them to win the White House anyway. Pema Levy reports:
"An interesting phenomenon right now is the huge turnouts for the Republican primaries, low turnout for the Democrat primaries," McCain said in a Sunday appearance on the Phoenix-based show Politics in the Yard. "Now if all those people would get behind the Republican candidate, I think we could win this election despite the alienation, frankly, of a lot of the Hispanic voters.”
Absolutely. If Republicans just drag out all the "oldies but goodies" and dust 'em off, they totally have 2016 in the bag.
Ann Kirkpatrick, McCain's Democratic challenger this fall and a Daily Kos-endorsed candidate, said she wondered "what thousands of Latino families across Arizona will think when they hear that John McCain is willing to alienate them as long as he and Republicans win in November.”
Hmm … can’t imagine.
Please give $3 to help Ann Kirkpatrick finally retire this guy.

UPDATE: Just dug up this McCain quote from April 2015…
“The reality is, is that we are losing support in the Hispanic community,” the Arizona Republican said. “We need to address the issue. We need to do it in a constructive fashion, or we do not win the 2016 election.”
Meh—things change.
