Was this the rule change?
“All delegates and seated alternates to the state convention must be registered Democrats residing in the county for which they are representing at the convention.”
Very clever of Clinton to get that included in the 2012 Nevada Dem State Convention Rules to thwart Sanders in 2016.
The mythmakers continue making the false claim that the Nevada Democratic Party changed the rules at the Nevada state Democratic Party convention despite the conclusive evidence to the contrary. In the lead diary arguing this, the diarist first wrote:
But when it came to this State Convention, the Nevada Democratic State Party Chair (and whomever else was involved in deciding to put forth this Temporary Rule) decided to do an end-run around the Democratic voters of the State of Nevada at their County Conventions and push through a new rule for the State Convention, even though the Nevada Democratic State Party Convention Rules themselves appear to prohibit such behavior —
This is simply false. How do I know this? Because the diarist links to the delegate selection rules that were followed at the state convention! There was no change at all in the “temporary rules” regarding delegate selection. Look for yourself at the temporary rules — what rule described here changes the delegate selection process? The discussion of delegate selection is found in Article XII.
Despite this incontrovertible fact, the diarist chose to double down:
I've spoken with Adryenn Ashley by private message on Facebook, and according to her, the rules on delegate selection from Tier 2 to Tier 1 results were changed, at a closed meeting held prior to the Convention, which made them Temporary Rules until the Chair called for a vote to make those temporary rules permanent at the Convention.
If this is so, it should be easy to point to the rule that demonstrates that “the rules on delegate selection from Tier 2 to Tier 1 results were changed.” Simple request to the diarist, please point to the provision of the temporary rules that did this. If there is a temporary rule that did this, should be easy to point to. (By the way it should be easy to point to all the supposed awful rules that the diarist is upset with.)
Look the logistical impossibility of doing what is claimed is not even a point I will make here. (How in hell were the actual delegates identified according to this conspiracy theory?) My request is simple — point to the rule you are saying did this. It does not exist.
UPDATE — I have an alternate approach to this problem- can the diarist in question, or anyone for that matter, identify the delegates who were not seated as a result of a rules change. The 58 Sanders delegates (and the 8 Clinton delegates) who were not seated was a result of failing the eligibility requirements, not a rule change. Because such persons surely should have filed objections. Are there any? The only objection we know of involved the 58.
