Ok, a common theme is making the rounds about what a brilliant business man Don Trump is. This horse dung is now even being repeated by Democratic officials like West Virginia Senetor Joe Manchin, who is quoted in the headline. The problem is that it's bull. It has been widely reported that if Trump had just invested (in index funds) what his dad handed to him, he would be far better off in terms of net wealth. Forbes magazine estimated Trumps net wealth has improved by roughly 4 billion since 1987, which sounds good until you realize that it would be over triple that amount had he invested in index funds and walked away. Therefore it is provably untrue that Trump has not “got where he is by making a lot of bad deals”. In fact his “deals” have cost him 9 billion by Forbes estimation. So yes, Don has gotten where he is by making a lot of bad deals Senator Manchin.
