How utterly 2010 of Sen. John McCain. The longtime Arizona senator has a new ad out attacking his Democratic opponent, Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick for—wait for it—voting for Obamacare.
“Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick bragged about her Obamacare vote,” a narrator says, with audio of Kirkpatrick calling it “the one I’m most proud of.”
D.B. Mitchell, a Kirkpatrick campaign spokesman, nailed the response.
"McCain's tired old attacks about Obamacare are nothing new — and once again he disregards the thousands of Arizonans who now have health coverage because of the ACA and its Medicaid expansion. McCain's cheap attack on Ann is completely out of touch with the needs of these families because he's spent the last 33 years in Washington."
Old, tired, and out-of-touch pretty much sums up McCain and this campaign. Because, really. Obamacare? In 2016? In Arizona. Here's a fun fact about Obamacare: "Hispanic adults had the greatest percentage point decrease in the uninsured rate between 2013 (40.6%) and 2015 (27.7%)."
Back in Arizona, "the Kirkpatrick campaign is preparing to launch a series of bilingual videos designed to remind Latino voters of McCain's much-discussed 2010 'danged fence' border-security TV ad." Now that's relevant to 2016.
