I have a question: Why is it that when a supporter (not the candidate, a spokesperson, or paid staffer) does something bad; the first reaction isn’t to declare the person an ass and be done with it. Instead the hackles are raised, the pearls get clutched, the anger is righteous, and the calls for apology from the candidate (not the person who did bad thing) shouted from the mountain top? Especially when said candidate has absolutely zero control over that person?
Both sides have had supporters do not nice things, so I ask both sides. Why is our first reaction to see the absolute worst in our opposition?
I ask because I am effectively neutral on the primaries any more. I still haven’t voted yet, and I do support one candidate over the other, but it is lukewarm support at best. This race is, for the most part over. Yet when I come here every day, I find more and more wood (not to mention gasoline) being thrown into the bonfires of each candidate’s supporters. Thumbs in the eye, arrows to the knee, and heads butted. For what? Political points that aren’t being counted by anyone?
