Someone texted me from the Sanders campaign asking me to volunteer. I wrote back, saying "I've left the cult". He sent this pack of standard oft-debunked talking points:
"I hope it's not because of what you saw from the Nevada convention on the news. If it is you should check out the NPR piece where they corrected the story, in less you watch the entire video online, of what exactly happened, you should not pass any judgment. There were no chairs throne and no violence actually occurred, that was all media spin. There were some people who actually waved the chairs in the air out of anger after beingunjustly removed, without being heard. After Hillary's people had closed door meetings to decide on a new rules, then they pass them with that a or nay vote where the nays clearly had it. But instead the lead just slammed the gabble down and said that it passed and then stormed out and dismissed the conference. They hijacked the conference, And forced new rules upon Bernie's people who were not even allowed to defend themselves, and then the media took it and completely blew it out of proportion. At least watch the video online, and not just very carefully cut pieces of it constructed to portray an image that is far from accurate. Clearly you must know that Bernie does not condone violence, and I'm assuming you don't know that one of calories people actually attacked a Bernie supporter recently. That is the only known violence that has occurred between calories and Bernie's people so far."
"Check YouTube, for the entire video. So that what you see is not being taken out of context. I actually got in a huge fight with my partner over this and then he watch the video while I was volunteering at the office and when I came home he apologized profusely. And he has been released Hillary supporter up until he watch that video, and then he told me that I'm right and that he could not in good conscience support her when they twisted this thing so far out of what actually happened. We're chairs raised yes, only after they dismissed 64 at Bernie's delegates for no good reason, those people were elected, and not a single one of them got to state their case. The convention was hijacked, watch the video."
When I told him that the bit about 64 delegates is a lie (50 of them didn't even show up, and 8 were disqualified because they lacked proper credentials, by a committee composed of 5 members from each campaign), he sent me this charming message:
"I don't lie asshole, look on the fucking Internet you moron. You can suck my fucking daily cause there a fucking bunch of morons look at the actual video if you can think for yourself idiot. Or do you need somebody to tell you. Clearly you do not have your own mind to think. The daily cost is fucking Hillary propaganda you moron. Look at the actual video if you have a brain to think with, clearly there's nothing between your ears."
(“daily cost” apparently is typo for DailyKos … I had mentioned that I encounter a lot of people like him here.)
Then he topped it off with
"Why is your candidate being investigated in every single state that she has one, every exit poll is been off by more than 2% which is statistically beyond what is likely or probable which indicates election fraud."
I never mentioned who “my candidate” is, or the fact that I actually voted for Bernie Sanders. (Or will have … I dropped off my CA ballot at the local election office.)
This is isn’t just some troll on the Internet, this is a representative of the Sanders campaign, using their database to contact me. This is what has become of the Sanders "revolution".

I was asked for screenshots … it was a major pain, but here they are. The original text that I responded to was a standard canned campaign reach out, but for some reason it’s missing … all I have is starting with my one line response. And this includes vituperative stuff I wrote that I didn’t include above, but that’s not the point (although I’m sure someone just like this guy will try to make that the point … I already called out such people in my texts to this guy) … these were texts made by someone acting on behalf of the Sanders campaign, using the campaign database … this was campaign outreach:
