Earlier today, there was a diary which asked whether people’s issues with Secretary Clinton were based, in-part, in sexism here in the democratic party and places left.
I don’t know about that (though I have my suspicions), but I do know that in places Right, gender is front-and-center in the attacks headed her way.
If we ever needed a reminder that this election from the Right will likely not play out in the issues arena, but rather in the messy intestinal politics of personal prejudice, we need look no further than the merchandise tables of your local Trump rally.
While the Trump campaign has not “officially endorsed” any of this merchandise, he’s already given it his tacit public approval, chuckling at the “Trump That B**ch” bumper sticker when it was shown to him.
Regardless of who we support, those of us who are interested in progress will need to have our “I call bullshit misogyny” game on point as we gear up for a general election, because we need call it out loud whenever and wherever we see it.
Even if we don’t like Clinton as a candidate, I don’t think any of us want to see her defeated, especially if her defeat can be read as a victory for the cro-magnon wing of the human experience.
