Received this e-mail today from DSCC Chairman, U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D. MT) in support of Secretary of State Jason Kander’s (D. MO) U.S. Senate campaign:
Jason Kander is a veteran, a Senate candidate in Missouri, and an all-around great guy. Most importantly, he is exactly the type of hardworking leader we need more of in the Senate. And today is his birthday.
Seventeen months ago, political reporters and pundits didn’t think Missouri would be a competitive race. But then Jason threw his hat in the ring. Since then, every poll says he’s closing the gap. And the press has changed their tune -- putting Missouri on every “most competitive” list and calling it the “sleeping giant” on the Senate map.
Jason still has a tough fight ahead of him. Outside groups have already spent cash against him. But Jason isn’t running short on toughness -- and neither are Montanans.
Help give Jason the resources to reach Missouri voters and earn the right to represent them in the Senate. Any amount you can give will help Jason and his team reach their goal.
Jason began his service to our country in the Army deployed in Afghanistan and continues to serve Missouri in his current position as Secretary of State.
During his time in office, Jason opposed extreme efforts to curb voting rights, passed the first major ethics bill in Missouri in over 20 years, and stood up to Wall Street -- returning tens of millions to taxpayers after the financial crisis. And Jason accomplished all this while cutting his office’s budget by over $1 million.
Let's make sure Jason is able to get to bring this record of common sense results to the Senate. His team is trying to raise $100,000 for his birthday. Can you pitch in $5 or $10?
Thank you for helping Jason on his birthday, and thanks for all that you do to support decent, honest candidates like Jason.
Jon
