Yup, it’s coming to pass. As presumptive nominee, Donald Trump will start receiving regular CIA briefings after he’s formally nominated, which he’ll slot in with the National Enquirer as source material for his ridiculous statements.
Now the Donald is a fucking moron. Like, probably the stupidest person ever to get the nomination. There’s a reason a strong plurality of Republican voters voted for him. Trump validates their own idiocy! That’s why they don’t blink when he has moments like this one, on Fox News:
BAIER: Campaigning in Iowa, you said, quote, "I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me." You obviously know a lot about leadership. But based on -- on this, what -- what's your assessment of the leader of ISIS, his strengths, weaknesses, you know...
TRUMP: Well, they've had numerous leaders and they don't -- you don't even -- we don't even really know who the leader is. They have different people in different areas. What does amaze me is they have a leader and we can't get him. He's unbelievable. You have more than one leader of ISIS, they're expanding and spreading and taking over the oil in Libya. Which is really pure, great oil. Among the best in the world and they're sending it out on ships and we're doing nothing to blockade it?
I know more about ISIS than generals! There isn’t just one leader, there are lots of them. I don’t know who the leaders are. Actually, there’s just one. I don’t know who he is. It’s unbelievable how we can’t find one person in Syria and Iraq, it’s only 240,000 square miles. Forget what I just said, there actually is more than one leader. There are lots of them. I don’t know who they are. They’re expanding all over the world! I’m too stupid to realize they’re not. They’re taking oil in Libya. Great oil. Tremendous oil. The best oil.
Of course, giving this tremendously stupid man access to classified information is a bit insane.
A former Republican national security official put it more bluntly: “He’s an intelligence classification vetting nightmare scenario.
Not to mention, Trump’s bromance with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin (they see themselves in each other) is quite unseemly, and even more so when considering this:
Trump’s top adviser, Paul Manafort, has spent much of his recent career working for pro-Russian forces in Ukraine, and doing complex deals for an oligarch with close ties to Putin. And while a Democratic senator has already charged Trump is not responsible enough to receive secret information, Manafort’s deep relationships with top pro-Russian figures raise special concerns
But that’s the reward Republicans get for nominating the Kremlin’s chosen one. Congrats! Let’s just hope the CIA doesn’t give him anything of actual value, at least anything that won’t end up in Putin’s desk, or the next morning’s call-in interview on Fox.
