Received this e-mail today from Russ Feingold’s (D. WI) U.S. Senate campaign:
Friend,
They're two peas in a pod.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and our opponent, Senator Ron Johnson, share the same dream: to slash Social Security and turn Medicare into a voucher program.
If they had their way, Speaker Ryan and our opponent, Senator Johnson, would weaken the safety net for millions of Americans.
We need to stand together in support of Social Security and Medicare for American seniors. If you agree, add your name.
Medicare and Social Security are a promise we've made to our seniors -- that if you work hard all your life, you'll be able to retire with dignity. Speaker Ryan and Senator Johnson would rather give tax breaks to big corporations and the wealthiest Americans by slashing Social Security and Medicare, forcing our seniors to carry the burden.
Help us send a message to Ron Johnson, Speaker Ryan and all Republican extremists: We need to strengthen and expand -- not slash -- Medicare and Social Security.
Maybe if these two hit the trail to actually listen to Wisconsin's seniors, they'd hear what Russ has been hearing: that it's getting harder and harder to make ends meet, and that programs like Social Security and Medicare are absolutely critical for Wisconsin's seniors.
Thanks for standing with us.
Best,
Shelby Cole
