Is it possible to send emails to individual congress people without using their individual webpages? If so, need directions or email lists, because my reaction to yesterday’s mass murder is going to be to repeatedly email the 60 members of the senate who voted to make weapons of mass murder available to anyone who wants them understand that the blood of 50 people is on their hands. I intend to introduce each of the 60 senators who favored the NRA over peoples’ lives to the 50 people they helped kill. And the people they helped injure.
After a day of listening to “news” about Orlando, I am stunned at how muted the calls for gun control have been. While we will be barraged in the coming days with conjecture over whether the murderer was motivated by hate, by homophobia, by radical Islam, by steroids, etc., — there are really only a few things that we will ever really know. One of the few things we know for sure: the senate of the US voted to make it easy and convenient for a person like the Orlando murderer to gain access to weapons designed and sold for one purpose — mass murder. If a US senator supports making it easy and convenient for a terrorist, domestic or foreign, of any ideology or pathology, to gain access to weapons of mass murder, then that US Senator is complicit in the mass murders which inevitably ensue.
There is truly not a lot congress can do about homophobia, religious zealotry, hate, or any of the other potential drivers mass murders. But they owe this country the miniscule effort to make mass murder less convenient. Until they do so, they are just as guilty as the people whose abominations they enabled.
