Donald Trump and the worst news program on television once again team up to react to a national horror in the most Donald Trump and Fox News way possible: Implying that the sitting president is possibly in league with terrorists.
"He doesn't get it or he gets it better than anybody understands. It's one or the other," Trump said of Obama on "Fox & Friends," speaking on the phone. "And either one is unacceptable, No. 1, and No. 2, calling on another gun ban, I mean, this man has no clue. [...]"
"We're led by a man who is a very -- look, we're led by a man that either is, is not tough, not smart, or he's got something else in mind," Trump said. "And the something else in mind, you know, people can't believe it. People cannot -- they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the ways he acts and can't even mention the words radical islamic terrorism. There's something going on. It's inconceivable."
It's taken eight years, but Trump may at least finally be willing to accept America's first non-white president is indeed an American citizen. Now he's moved on to racist internet cesspool theory number two, that since Barack Obama's father was Muslim maybe Obama is a secret Muslim terrorist because [insert the sound of Donald Trump belching vague phrases].
There is something going on here, all right. We're learning once again what sort of president the presumptive Republican nominee would be. He once again demanded we do something about Muslims. He once again demanded we do something about refugees. He once again blithely dismissed any thoughts that perhaps America ought not so readily arm violent and insane people. He once again supposed that the non-white president is maybe in on it all.
Donald Trump and the septic tank of Fox News, coming together once again to bring you things you could previously only hear from the most racist and conspiratorial chain letters. Because that's how you run a network now, and apparently that's how you rise to the top of the Republican Party.
