In the wake of the devastating tragedy in Orlando, I have finally become willing to say what I’ve been thinking all along.
We use hyperbolous language, sometimes, when talking about politics. The one example which has come up here quite often lately, is the phrase “lesser of two evils”. As in Hillary is the lesser of two evils. Or, I’m tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. Now, I’m not writing to debate those issues. I’m here to baldly state what has been obvious to me for a while.
Donald Trump is actually evil. I am relying on the standard definition when I write that: Profoundly immoral and malevolent.
I could cite chapter and verse to support my contention. But, really, do I have to? Is there anything about Trump’s actions, words and behaviors over decades which belies that position?
I’m not the first to state the obvious so explicitly. Barry Diller said that very thing on CNBC over a month ago.
Now, I’m not saying this to persuade anyone to do anything. Granted, placing Trump in his proper context might have an impact on the election. On some level, much of what is being written these days is commentary which dances around the obvious.
Let’s stop dancing. Let’s have the uncomfortable conversation. Let’s be real. Donald Trump is an evil human being. Period.
