Campaign Action
It started on Wednesday at 11:21 AM ET, when Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy began speaking, and as of this writing, 12 hours later, Senate Democrats continue their filibuster to talk about the increasing death toll from out-of-control gun violence in this country—and the fact that Republican lawmakers refuse to do anything about it.
From Murphy's remarks:
…it won't surprise you to know that for those of us that represent Connecticut, the failure of this body to do anything – anything – at all in the face of that continued slaughter isn't just painful to us. It's unconscionable. I can't tell you how hard it is to look into the eyes of the families of those little boys and girls who were killed in Sandy Hook and tell them that almost four years later we've done nothing, nothing at all to reduce the likelihood that that will happen again to another family.

Nice! If you’re in the area, join them!
Aside from the growing number of Democratic colleagues who joined Sen. Christopher S. Murphy of Connecticut as midnight approached, the senator got some other support.
Shortly before midnight, several dozen demonstrators who had marched across the city from as far as Dupont Circle approached the Capitol.
The demonstrators waved rainbow flags and shouted: "We're here, we're queer. Get these guns out of here!"

And after 14 hours and 50 odd minutes, the filibuster has ended.
Major kudos to Sen. Murphy, Sen. Booker and the other 40 senators who participated in this effort. Be sure to send them your thanks and urge them to keep up the fight. Lives depend on it.
