House Democrats sit in for gun safety legislation

House Democrats, frustrated by the lack of action on gun safety legislation after yet another mass shooting, are reviving an old protest tactic: the sit-in.

 Speaker Paul Ryan is extremely unlikely to allow a vote, but it’s wonderful to see Democrats fully embracing this issue in the wake of Orlando.

The House gaveled back in for the prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. House Democrats remained in the well, continuing their demands, chanting “No bill, no break.” So leadership decided to go back into recess. Democrats will remain on the floor, but the cameras C-SPAN uses are controlled by the House leader, so don’t expect it to be televised.
