Given the general state of affairs in the world today, I am fairly certain that no matter what your politics, no matter who you support now or may have supported earlier in the Presidential race, we can all agree on the following - the world is headed to hell in a handbasket. We live on a planet that is absolutely primed for some biblically bad shit to go down. Everyone knows it, and nobody can deny it. The only meaningful question is, what is YOUR reaction to it? Specifically, are you looking to delay whatever kind of horror we are sure to be facing for as long as it can practically be delayed, or do you think we'd be better off accelerating the crazy, and getting it over with as soon as possible, so we can move on to whatever might come next?
Put in simpler terms: Apocalypse: SOONER, or LATER?
Some may think the above is a dumb question - I mean, everyone wants to hold this mess off as long as they can, right? Well, no - in fact, TOTALLY WRONG!
First, you have your end-timers - the folks who are awaiting the rapture with baited breath. They've been waiting on that rapture of theirs for a L-O-N-G time now, and they want to BE THERE when it comes down! No delaying the inevitable for these folks - BRING IT ON!
And what about the mental residents of Glenbeckistan, who've been hoarding freeze-dried food, bottled water, gold, guns & ammo in their refurbished fallout shelters since at least November of 2008, some for even longer. Those folks have a lot of cash tied up in all that crap, and they'd just LOVE a little of that sweet ROI the billionaire types are always talking about. They've also got neighbors that they just KNOW have been talking behind their backs for years now, and can't wait for their "TOLDJA SO!" moment.
Then there are the "Kill'em all, let God sort 'em out," types, who don't really care whether they live or die, as long as they can take a pot-load of people they hate down with them.
Remember that “fiscal cliff” analogy the press was using for the economy, early on in the Obama administration? And how Obama was telling us how the Republicans had left the car precariously balanced, with two wheels hanging over the cliff, and how they were saying "You gotta let us get it outta here!" His answer, of course, was "NO! - you PUT us here in the first place, all you're likely to do is put is over the edge!" Well, let's stick with the car/cliff analogy - but the car we’re in is the one from "Thelma & Louise" at the very end of the movie of the same name. It's headed straight for a VERY STEEP cliff! We can see it coming closer by the second.
In this car, Donald Trump represents the accelerator pedal - he'll get us to, and over the cliff, as fast as possible. If you are seeking to hasten the coming apocalypse, Donny is your boy!
The brake pedal, of course, is under the foot of Hillary Clinton. She'll do her level best to hold the end at bay for as long as she can.
Which brings us back to the original question - should we hit the gas, or the brake? Sooner, or later?
