I sometimes see and read that Bernie Sanders shouldn’t be allowed to speak at the convention, or should be relegated to a 1, 2, 3 am time slot.
In my opinion, this is ridiculous. Of course he should be “allowed” to speak at the convention. He’s a major force, he has millions of people who voted for him in the Democratic primary, his core convictions are core democratic and progressive convictions, and we all share them, whether or not we agree on the approach or the person saying them out loud.
Do not misunderstand me, I think Bernie Sanders is wrong in how he is wrapping this up. I hate that he won’t congratulate Hillary Clinton, I hate that he still acts as though somehow this was all rigged, I hate that he still feels the need to paint the Democratic party as corrupt. Actually, I personally can’t stand him……..but
He should be given a major time slot at the convention. Let him talk, hell make him talk.
Update I guess: How does blocking Bernie Sanders from speaking at the convention help anyone? I'm my opinion he’s a jerk, but I prefer to let him prove it himself. So, don’t allow Bernie Sanders to speak at the convention. That looks good? Allow him to speak and say whatever he does...who cares? Make him a martyr (which no doubt he would love) or make him be on record for all the world to see, good or bad.
