I listen to Hillary Clinton talk to audiences about Planned Parenthood, and she is preaching to the choir.
She needs to address the ANTI-Planned Parenthood audience: Tell them that they may not agree with abortions, but they should respect and “allow” people who feel they need these services to get them without protest, and they should not vote against a candidate only because of their stance on this issue. They should consider all of the issues like economic and voting issues. The old saying of “walk a mile in my shoes” applies here, and religious folks should be reminded to “judge not, lest you be judged”.
I listen to President Obama talk to the pro LGBT community, and he doesn’t talk to the ANTI- group, to ask them for tolerance. Again, these issues don’t affect them directly, only to the extent that their beliefs drive them to want to control other people’s freedom.
The recent Supreme Court decision upholding abortion rights could bring out more anti-abortion voters, so candidates need to remind them that economic issues, like tax cuts for the wealthy will reduce funds for projects like highways and enforcement of financial rules of the stock markets. The Republicans use the abortion issue as a Trojan Horse to push through their pro-business and pro-wealthy issues, while they could care less about the religious issues.
