At least, so thinks the Forward, one of the leading Jewish newspapers, in this article that appeared online within the past day.
I don’t know that I would call her a “super hawk” but it is clear that Warren is well within the Democratic mainstream on Israel:
“Israel lives in a very dangerous part of the world, and a part of the world where there aren’t many liberal democracies and democracies that are controlled by the rule of law,” she said. “And we very much need an ally in that part of the world.”
She also argued against the claim that Israel used disproportionate force against Palestinians in Gaza, and rejected the idea of leveraging American funding to pressure Israel not to expand the building of West Bank settlements.
The article continues by describing her ties to AIPAC and to J Street. She also supported the Iran deal. It then discusses Kaine and Castro more briefly. It is clear on this issue that Warren is much closer to Clinton than to Sanders, and that Kaine and Warren aren’t all that different from each other.
I still would prefer Kaine, not so much because I would prefer Kaine as VP (they would both be great) but because I don’t want anyone like Scott Brown in the US Senate for even a few days. This article does show that with both Kaine and Warren, liberal and progressive supporters of Israel have no worries.
