Something has been bugging me lately. There’s a lot of sniping between fellow DKOS members, for being “too left”, “too right”, or supportive of this campaign or that, dismissive of other campaigns even tho’ they are Democrat.
And I got to thinking, “do people actually KNOW where their political views are, relative to others?”
For example, I’ve always believed I was a moderate, that while governmental support and taxpayer funding for “Common Good” matters was better than “privatization”, I didn’t go full Socialist either. We need markets, the ability for someone to sell their craft or ideas, and the freedom to decide how they wish to live their lives, and so on. But we also need regulation, to curb abuses of power, be they monetary or societal.
So I did a refresher on my Political Compass plot, which is here: Politicalcompass.org
The result was a bit of a surprise (see the chart above, that red dot is me in the lower left corner). I’m almost (if not quite) in the same area as Dr. Jill Stein, even though when I hear her speak or read her transcripts, I think she’s off in la-la-land. I’m considerably to the left of Hillary Clinton, my current “candidate” whom I will gladly cast my vote for in November. Thankfully, I’m not anywhere near the quadrant where we would find Donald Trump or Ted Cruz.
I invite you all to take the survey, answer honestly, and see where you end up.
EDIT:
After reading the comments, I think the common theme is that the testing method itself is subjective (and prone to bias, hey, who knew?) However, the only slightly less notable theme is, most of us are indeed left-leaning, rather than right-leaning. Quid Erat Demonstrandum.
