Ok, I don’t like to write “diaries”. I’m not as good of a writer as the many people I respect here on DKOS, but, here goes anyway.
Every time I read a diary that is at all critical of Sen. Sanders, there is inevitably one comment that goes something like this:
“Oh great, another Anti-Bernie smear diary”
or
“Keep smearing Bernie and see what we do in November”
Here is the problem with this logic. If Sen. Sanders wants to say that the nominating contest is not over, and he wants to continue to “run” for the nomination, he is fair game. This is politics, it’s not rec-league soccer.
If, as Sen. Sanders and many of his supporters claim, this contest is far from over, it is perfectly acceptable for the Sec. Clinton side to continue to draw contrasts with him. It’s ok to say that his financial regulation policies are not as effective as Sec. Clinton’s. It’s ok to say that his health care proposals are not good public policy. It’s ok to point out that his personal history makes us worried for the general election. Oh, and how about those tax returns?
All of this is perfectly legitimate, as long as he is still running for President.
Also, Sen. Sanders wants to make his argument to the Super-Delegates that he is a better candidate for the General Election, why can’t we do the same thing for Sec. Clinton? Why can’t we point out his weakness the way he tries to do to Sec. Clinton?
So, if you have a counter-argument, please bring them to the comment sections of these diaries. But, you can’t expect the Sec. Clinton side to just sit there and take the perfectly legitimate criticisms of her without responding, did you? Or, is it only ok for Sen. Sanders and his supporters to run a campaign?
So, please, drop the dramatic victim-hood. Many of us Sec. Clinton supporters have respect for Sen. Sanders. But, if this election is still “on”, we must keep campaigning against him.
Now, please fill up the comments section with all kinds of nonsense, and don’t forget to “flag” the Tip-Jar.
Merry Christmas.
