Not much of a diary. I wasn’t expecting to be moved to tears until tomorrow night however the AP rained on my parade. As I sit here tonight, a black male from Houston, Texas, I am proud to have witnessed the nomination and election of America’s first black President (Barack Obama), I am almost in tears, equally as proud witness the nomination of Hillary Clinton. The FIRST woman to be nominated as President of a major political party. That glass ceiling is about to come crumbling down and it wouldn’t be possible had it not been for great women who have paved the way for her such as Ann Richards, just as Hillary is paving the way for future generations.
SO TONIGHT, I STAND PROUD WITH MY COUNTRY, WOMEN, HILLARY CLINTON and THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. We may not be perfect, but this is OUR PARTY, OUR COUNTRY and we as Democrats fight together regardless of our different backgrounds for a better America. l leave you with this rousing speech from former Texas Governor Ann Richards at the 1988 Democratic Convention. I know she is smiling down from heaven tonight. I see so much of Ann in Hillary, a fighter who never gave up! May her soul rest in peace. Let us all unite and finish the fight on her behalf, on behalf of all women pioneers that are no longer with us, and most importantly on behalf of this imperfect but GREAT NATION. #Imwithher #YessheCan #readyondayone
