A hero is a peculiar kind of human. Heroes draw people together. A hero inspires confidence in those he touches. Heroes are closely aligned with what we generally recognize as true and enduring.
Hillary and Donald would have to manufacture such an event as the one profiled in the video below, a spontaneous expression of real gratitude, the kind of homecoming Bernie received upon returning home to Vermont.

Like most of America, the best that Donald and Hillary can do is to celebritize themselves and in the fashion of Madison Avenue advertising, puff up the products they are selling. That explains why they've arrived where they have. The traveling snake oil salesman of old held to a timely truth: there's a sucker born every minute. In the end we really do get what we deserve.
The best thing that could happen if Donald wins is that his small-minded agenda simply falls flat and fails. The best that can happen if Hillary wins is that we won't have to worry about the word T-R-U-M-P blazened atop the Capitol dome. Thanks for aiming so low once again, American voters.
In addition to the wars, environmental and economic turmoil we contribute to "less sophisticated" nations, we also bring to the world what we really excel at--an American Carnivality that does Rabelais proud. In short, except for the destruction we bring to whatever we touch, we remain a global laughing-stock. Entertainment and sales, one giant Hollywood where something's always for sale--ah, America, you've done it again.
Somebody pass me the snake oil.
