Every year since the first Yearly Kos I’ve wanted to attend this event, and every year something prevented me from going. Last year I had to move out of the house I’d been living in for five years, and if I have to move out of my apartment right after I get back, I don’t care. I’m going. (and that might happen, since I’m way behind on my own finances, but that’s nothing new.)
Of all the things I have ever done in my life, blogging has been the most satisfying, and I’m very proud of my early blog efforts. However, for a good while I’ve been mostly silent except for comments because, well, you can imagine what kind of target someone called AlabamaLiberal can be.
When I did that many years ago, only the most liberal were even online, so it worked okay. And there’s a community of writers that I always know will comment and support me but lately I’ve been waiting to see what others do and say, especially the writers locally. And I’ve been pretty pleased.
For a while I’ve been wanting to form an Alabama bloggers group on DailyKos. I haven’t done it before now, but this gives me the perfect opportunity. I’m sure there are a good many Alabama Kossaks and maybe some of them are going to attend. I’m looking forward to meeting you all.
Even if you’re not going, though, let me know if you’re interested in how the group works. There are a number of ways we can strengthen the liberal voices that certainly do exist down here in the deep south and I think the timing is perfect.
As I often get a bit carried away, I’ll just slow down this time and give others a chance to let me know if they are interested. I’m going to be selling prints of one of my paintings to help defray the costs of travel so you may want to take a look at that as well.
So if you’re an Alabama native or now reside in Alabama, let me know if you want to be included in a group. I’ll be contacting the people who know lots more about how this works on DK5.
If you’re reading this on FB, you may not know about DailyKos. But if you’re on my friends list, I doubt that!
Thanks for all your positive vibes.
