We are at a turning point in history when it comes to women. 2017 will see more women in charge of major economies than at any time in history. Hillary Clinton will most likely be the next president of the United States. The VP, a heartbeat away from the presidency, will also most likely be a woman. If the Democrats run the tables this election, the third-in-line for the presidency, the Speaker of the House could also be a woman. The next prime minister of the UK will be a woman. The Chancellor of Germany, the economic heartbeat of the EU, is a woman. Indeed at this time the world is under a record number of female leaders.
Whether it be the highest seats of power or the people in the street, women are becoming the catalysts of change. Diamond Reynolds became a symbol of BlackLivesMatter as she recorded her boyfriend Philando Castile shot by a hysterical male police officer as she calmly tried to defuse further violence and protect her four-year-old daughter. Ieshia Evans has quickly become an icon for peaceful protest when she stood calmly in front of several policemen dressed in full riot gear during a Baton Rouge protest. I look forward to both of these women getting invites to the inauguration of President Hillary Clinton.
