If you read Daily Kos, you probably already know that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a massive corporate power grab that threatens basically everything you care about, from good jobs to the environment to Internet freedom. But one of the biggest challenges we’re facing in the fight to stop the TPP is that, outside of our activist bubble, way too many people still have no idea what it is.
That’s a real problem. And corporate lobbyists are hoping to exploit it to quietly rush the TPP through Congress this Fall.
Fortunately, we’ve got a secret weapon to help sound the alarm: the Rock Against the TPP roadshow.
Fight for the Future and a huge coalition of activist groups are teaming up with awesome artists like Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Golden Globe nominated actress Evangeline Lilly, hip hop icon Talib Kweli, and popular punk band Anti-Flag, to organize a multi-city uprising featuring high profile speakers and performers coming together at FREE events to educate the public about the grave threat the TPP poses to our most basic rights.
Through a series of large-scale educational concert events, protests, and teach-ins, we’ll reach huge numbers of people who have never heard of the TPP before, and ignite a mass movement to stop it in its tracks.
Is the tour coming near you? Check out RockAgainstTheTPP.org to find out!
The TPP is a legally binding deal between 12 governments, including the U.S., that was negotiated in total secrecy with hundreds of corporate lobbyists helping draft the text. If ratified, it would be the largest backroom deal of its kind in history, and it poses a grave threat to good paying jobs, the environment, internet freedom, food safety, and our basic democratic process.
As Tom Morello says, “Corporate lobbyists want to sneak the TPP through Congress quietly; that means it’s time for us to get loud.”
We need all hands on deck for this. It’s going to be the biggest mobilization against the TPP in U.S. history! Want to volunteer or help out? Get in touch! team@fightforthefuture.org
